Under the revised patent act dated June 11, 2014, formal description requirements as to a specification are relaxed.  Therefore, an applicant may file a patent application using an English thesis itself without a Korean translation thereof while not writing claims on or after January 1, 2015.
In case an English thesis is submitted, the applicant must submit a Korean translation of the English thesis and a formal specification including claims within one year and two months from a Korean filing date or an earliest priority date.
