Under the revised patent act dated June 11, 2014, an applicant may file a patent application using an English Specification as well as a Korean Specification on or after January 1, 2015.  In case an English Specification is submitted, the applicant must submit a Korean translation of the English Specification within one year and two months from a Korean filing date or an earliest priority date.
Therefore, in case an applicant intends to file a patent application in Korea near the deadline claiming a priority, the applicant first submits an English Specification itself without a Korean translation thereof and then the applicant may submit a Korean translation of the English Specification within one year and two months from the earliest priority date.
